Review on the Exhibition on ¡ÈJourney through the Eurasian Borders¡É at the Hokkaido University Museum on Hokkaido Shimbun
2009/10/12
The local newspaper media, Hokkaido Shimbun, wrote a review on the museum exhibition on ¡ÈJourney through the Eurasian Borders¡É in their October 12th paper.
Excerpt from the review: ¡ÈA 3D revolving globe that shows the actual rugged areas of the earth, including the mountain ranges and the deep sea trenches, was specially made for this exhibition. The globe is one metre in diameter and made to a scale of 1:1200. The names of the countries as well as borders have not been marked on the globe. Dr. Akihiro Iwashita, the Director of the Slavic Research Centre who is also the Leader of the Global COE Programme on Border Studies at the Hokkaido University states that, ¡Æwe would be pleased and honoured if this globe can become an opportunity for everyone to think about the endless border conflicts that are taking place around the world.¡Ç (original article in Japanese, translation by Naomi Chi)¡É.
The exhibition will be held until December 13th, 2009.
